Our members hail from every walk of life, subscribe to a variety of spiritual and philosophical beliefs (including none at all), and pursue different paths of their own choosing in observance of our mission and their personal life goals. We do not simply "fail to discriminate" against arbitrary differences, we embrace any human being who is willing to devote themselves to the discovery and protection of the paths to truth and those who seek it, including seekers themselves. We do not believe that you come to this task in spite of the experience of your humanity but because of that experience, and so that experience is important and we treasure the wisdom it offers our membership.

THough our mission is simply stated, the calling demands much of an individual and so we take care to protect our membership from those who do not come in good faith or are unprepared for the devotion it requires. We do not accept those who are tainted by the hate of prejudice, nor those who are wrongly convinced that they have found the truth in its entirety and reject the truths of others' finding. We honor all truths and their seekers, whether scientific, spiritual, mathematic or artistic, for the universe is large enough for all these things and more besides that we have yet to discover.

We do not cast the aspersion of "evil" against others simply because we disagree with their chosen path, or fear for how long they have spent searching the shadows, and instead reserve that concept for those who stand willfully and knowingly in the path between the truths and the seekers for their own temporal gain. We do not shrink from the darkness, for that is where we must go. Neither do we fear the light, for that is where we are from. Every member of our group is prepared to travel wherever the truth may be and faithfully chronicle the way for others.

we do not betray our work and its honors by the pursuit of self-glorification, for that would obfuscate the path with the barrier of ego. We chronicle the path; we do not drag others along it who are not prepared or willing to go. Though we may seek ourselves, we do not interfere with the travels of others, respecting that all paths walked faithfully lead to useful truths. we are satisfied by the journey even if it is taken alone with none to witness but the pen and the paper (or the keyboard in the glow of a monitor) with which we mark it, for we know that all faithfully made maps are followed in time.

We defend those who seek, giving what we can, doing what we must, in order to protect from those who would obstruct or destroy their path. with our faithful record of their being and the truths discovered, we prevent their labors from the desecration of ignorance. We share our own truths and assist fellow magi with quiet regard, recognizing that our success is mutual and interdependent. Though every magi walks their own path through the shadows, we do so knowing that we are not alone.
